Dear Students, all members of Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff and Esteemed Visitors,
Education is an ennobling process of growth and development. Education is not just an activity, it is in fact one of the most serious responsibilities of mankind. Education drives away ignorance and through illumination it reassures a man to a righteous thought and action. It empowers a woman and enlarges the horizon of her mind and intellect. It energizes a society and enables a man to earn his living with respect and praise. Education is an effective medium of social transformation. Education is an interesting process of learning, unlearning and relearning.
In higher educational institutions, teaching no longer is just transmitting knowledge, it is more significantly forming and transforming young minds. Thus, the tendency to support and motivate the adolescent learners is perpetually required from all educators. At Sikkim Government Science College, Chakung , we enterprise to map academic excellence with a strong human value system, which in numerous ways is ingrained in the culture of the college. To achieve this, we strongly feel that a paradigm shift in the minds of all stake holders should take place so that when the college becomes the hub to initiate and formalize education it has its tenets enshrined in a good value system, the extension of which is thereby taken home where it is further strengthened. And our commitment to such education will always persist in all our endeavors.
Teamwork is the hallmark of Sikkim Government Science College, Chakung. Every single person has constantly strived to work hard and have immensely contributed in making some or the other tangible difference to help this institution grow and move forward as one of the steadily evolving institutions of higher learning in this tiny Himalayan State of Sikkim. From the date of its inception SGSC, Chakung has been soaring high to success. This has been possible only through the collective efforts, team work, sincere participation and dedicated contribution of all staff and students regardless of several challenging times and limitations.
Learning is not a process just confined and limited to schools and colleges nor does it end with the completion of studies in the universities. It is in-fact a life-long process. Every situation in life is an opportunity to learn. I am personally very much delighted to witness our students taking opportunities to learn by involving themselves in various activities in addition to their regular academic curriculum.
Our institution has not only created its own unique niche but also has consolidated its repertoire for offering a high level of challenges equally accompanied by high levels of support. This is visible through the prestigious accolades received in terms of academics and extra-curricular activities over the years which show the moment of pride, honour and steady progress towards excellence. At SGSC, Chakung we constantly ensure to create the opportunity to all to succeed through holistic curriculum, innovative practices of experimental and experiential learning that aims to groom a learner to be a responsible global citizen who aspire to contribute their share to the world in their own, big or small way.
Conquering darkness through wisdom of science is the institutional motto that ignites the minds and big bright brains of our learners at SGSC, Chakung. All Alumni are considered as the responsible ambassadors of this Alma-mater who are readied to face the challenges of life and make significant contribution in their society, state, nation and the globe, at large. I am fortunate that I am one of the members of such a wonderful team comprising of smart, disciplined, prudent and positive students, competent and truly dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff.
